The trek to Ghorepan/ Poon (Pun) Hill, which is located in the Annapurna region, is truly deserving of the title, ’the best trek in Nepal’. It offers sublime views of the mountain scenery as it introduces visitors to charming Gurung and Magar villages, while taking them through dense rhododendron forests full of birds and deep sub-tropical valleys, all set below the Annapurnas with the picturesque twin peak of Machhapuchhre (Fishtail Peak) dominating the skyline. One of the important highlights of this trip is to climb to the top of Poon Hill from where one can view, arguably, one of the most spectacular sunrises on earth. The phenomenon is truly magical as the sun lights up the snow-capped summits of the Himalayan giants, Dhaulagiri (8,167m) and Annapurna (8,091m) along with a maze of other peaks.
